What is computer science?
Computer Science is the study of computers and computational systems. This field of study deals mostly with software and software systems; this includes their theoretical and algorithmic foundations, design, development, and application. It comprises an entire range of subareas, like machine learning, natural language processing, computing systems, networking, operating systems, AI, and human factors. Computer science studies are on both hardware and software; it literally covers everything about a computer from a machine language to a programming language. Principal areas of study within Computer Science include artificial intelligence, computer systems and networks, Client-Server, security controls, database systems, human-computer interaction, vision and graphics, numerical analysis, programming languages, software engineering, bioinformatics, and theory of computing. The issues that computer scientists encounter range from the abstract– determining what problems can be solved with computers and the complexity of the program codes that solve them – to the tangible – designing applications that perform well on handheld devices, that are friendly uses, and that elevate security measures.
In 2001, a New York Times article declared that all science was computer science because neuroscience, anthropology, physics and other scientific disciplines were beginning to test digital frameworks of systems instead of observing the systems themselves. The assertion may have been hyperbolic at the time, but it is easy to defend today. The impact of computer science is undeniable. One has only to look around to see digital technologies inspiring innovation, powering entrepreneurship, fueling invention, streamlining research, and driving societal change all over the world. This technology has made World a Better Place for all. President Obama’s 2016 State of the Union address, to give students across the country the chance to learn computer science (CS) in school. He believed that Computer Science should be taught as a ‘basic skill’.
For high school student computer science subject is mainly concentrated on Big Ideas. I focus on how how computer science has impacted our work industries and lives. To empower scholars, through research-based practices and an integrated system of support, to be globally responsible, including collaborative robust computer skills with the latest technology updated in a data science realm related to STEM, eSports, Programming, and the Gaming industry. Therefore, I incorporated all together computer programming skills such as Python code, Scratch block code, Unreal Engine blueprint, and along with Computer Science’s Big Ideas Learning for both of my computer science explore and AP Computer Science Principles classes.
